Glossary
AirdropFree tokens sent to wallets. Real ones exist; unexpected ones with a "claim" link are usually scams.
All-time high (ATH)The highest price a coin ever reached.
Ape (in)Buy quickly without research. Usually a bad idea.
Bag / bag holderYour holding / someone stuck holding a coin that crashed.
Bonding curveThe built-in starting market on launchpads like Pump.fun, where each buy raises the price.
BundleWhen a creator buys a large share at launch through many wallets to hide it.
CAContract address: the unique ID of a token. Always buy by CA, never by name.
CEX / DEXCentralized exchange (a company) / decentralized exchange (a program on the blockchain).
DegenSomeone who takes extreme risks. Said with pride online; costly in real life.
DYOR"Do your own research." Often said by people selling to you.
DevThe token's creator.
Diamond hands / paper handsHolding no matter what / selling quickly. Neither is a strategy.
Exit liquidityThe people who buy late so early holders can sell. Try not to be it.
FDVFully diluted value: market cap if all tokens that will ever exist were circulating.
FOMO / FUDFear of missing out / fear, uncertainty and doubt. Both are used to push you to act.
Freeze authorityA Solana token power that lets the creator freeze your tokens. Want it revoked.
GasThe network fee for a transaction.
HoneypotA token you can buy but not sell.
KOLKey opinion leader: an influencer. Many are paid to promote coins.
Liquidity pool (LP)The pot of tokens a DEX trades against. Burned or locked LP can't be pulled.
Market cap (MC)Price × circulating supply. The number that actually matters.
Mint authorityPower to create new tokens. Want it revoked.
Moon / moon bagA huge price rise / a small part you keep in case it keeps going.
NarrativeThe story or theme driving a group of coins (AI, cats, politics…).
Priority feeExtra fee on Solana to get your transaction processed faster.
Pump and dumpCoordinated buying and hype, then selling to the people who came late.
RevokeRemove a permission you gave a contract (revoke.cash for EVM chains).
Rug pullThe creator takes the money and leaves; price goes to near zero.
Sandwich attackA bot buys just before you and sells just after, profiting from your slippage.
Seed phrase12 or 24 words that control your wallet. Never share, never type into a site.
SlippageThe difference between the expected price and the one you get.
SniperA bot that buys in the first second of a launch.
StablecoinA token worth $1 (USDC, USDT). Where profits are parked.
Take profit (TP)Selling part of a position at a gain.
TickerA coin's short name, like DOGE. Not unique; copies exist.
VolumeHow much was traded in a period.
Wallet drainerA malicious site or signature that empties your wallet.
WhaleA wallet holding enough to move the price.
